Abstract

Anecdotes, often characterized by their humorous or satirical nature, serve as a vital component of both English and Uzbek oral traditions. These short stories not only entertain but also reflect cultural values, social norms, and linguistic styles. One of the key elements in understanding anecdotes is the concept of implicature, which refers to what is suggested or implied in communication beyond the literal meaning of words. This article explores the stylistic and linguoculturological features of implicatures in English and Uzbek anecdotes, highlighting their unique characteristics and cultural significance.
